Imperial Stout aged for 12 months in reconditioned French oak barrels. The 225 liter barrels were previously used to mature white wine made from Semillon grapes. After use, the staves were disassembled and shaved, with the barrel then undergoing a medium toasting process. This is the first time we have used this type of barrel at Basqueland. The base beer was brewed with a blend of 8 different malts and gained a further unique complexity from its contact with the reconditioned wood. Roasted aromas of elegant chocolate give way to a palate with layers of wood, chocolate, nuts, vanilla, and raisins, leading to a long, lingering finish.
