Newbarns - Scotch Common

The latest addition in our Heritage Helles series. We picked up some Scotch Common malt from Crafty Maltsters over in Fife which they sourced the seed for from the Hutton Institute seed bank. There isn't a huge amount of information out there on this particular variety other than it's an ancient Scottish variety grown on the mainland, and it’s super old, like from the 1600’s! We’re super chuffed with how this one has turned out. It has some similarities to Bere with its bold flavour and light body but has its own lovely characteristics to make it shine
