Dookit - Cone Zone V4 | Pale Ale

Brewed with green Cascade hops grown and picked in the Southside of Glasgow, Cone Zone V4 is equally flavourful and intriguing. This is the fourth year we have picked and used these Glaswegian hops and it is fascinating how well they have lent themselves to many a recipe and style over the years. Being such a bumper crop this year and a fine Summer for hop growing, the decision was made to make a straight up green hop pale with the focus on the large amount of fresh Cascade added at the whirlpool stage. The hops certainly did not disappoint: a fragrant, crisp and fairly complex wee pale has been created. This green hop pale exhibits an herbaceous & grassy citrus profile; the lemon vibrance of Cascade is muted when added still wet (the cones are picked and added to the boil within 24 hours). Then, the citrus character is elevated again by fermenting with a Voss Kveik yeast strain. Expect an orange and lemon flavour up front, followed by a resonating and leafy bitterness. All layered nicely on top of Dookit's go-to session strength pale base recipe: Simpson's Golden Promise lends a beautifully light & slightly earthy maltiness, which goes so well with a bitter green hop beer. Light and refreshing, but full of character and a decent body, this beer can be enjoyed by all at most occasions, and is certainly an easy-drinking choice during the silly season which lies ahead of us.
